The cyc div indicator is really interesting. In addition to hunting for regular setups, I would like to note that it is also rewarding to hunt for hidden divergence signals as they tend to provide really good trades. P.S. This is a chart with regular renkos and cyc.
Yes Brother, You could also use default SSA CycDiv Indicator with standard candlestick chart with same result..

Good evening. I am totally novice in the forex community but done it quite well in the stock trading department. However now that I want to learn how to trade forex I stumbled over this site after I read about Kiads moving and all the promising words on forexfactory and that made me drop overhere… I now have a forex accout at ICMarket and i have myself an mt4 trade station or whatever you guys call it :) I now want to get a good renko setup and it seems this is the place to get what I need. If i try to install an ex4 file it ask what I want to open it with and I honestly have no idea what to do. Can you help me by posting the files I need to get my mt4 up and running and how to install files like ex4. I will be very gratefull for any assistance ;)
Hi Brother/Sister, nice to met you here sorry for late reply and my bad English..
First, could you open your Meta Trader 4 Platform from ICMarket, and you can look standard online candlestick chart with it ? if yes then everything is fine for starting your renko chart building.
To use any custom tools (Expert Advisers, Indicators, Scripts, Libraries, etc). I suggest you to create separate folders in your data area of your Hard Drive as your temporary download place and also save you back up to your flash, then you could download any of tools you needed to that folders, make sure you know the type of that tools, and sometimes you need to download several different type of tools to make your main tool work. Like if you download some type of Expert Adviser, that need several custom indicators to work. or some custom indicators that need custom library file to work, etc.
Now, to create your first offline renko chart;
1. My Renko builder Indicator as state in ‘her’ name is Indicator type tool. so you could download from 1st post in this thread and put it on your temporary Indicators folder in your hard drive.
2. Copy your downloaded Renko builder Indicator
3. Then open your Meta Trader 4 Platform. Go to Menu : File / Open Data Folder. This will open new window just like window file explorer, and you should open MQL4 folder and then open Indicators sub folder, and paste your copied renko builder indicator (ex4) there.
4. Close your MT4 Data Folder window.
5. In your Meta Trader 4 platform, open your Navigator window (default already open, if not press ctrl+N). click your ‘indicators’ folder and right click to open drop down menu and select ‘Refresh’ (for MT4 build 765). then you will see my Renko Builder Indicator name there.
6. Open standard candlestick chart with M1 Time Frame, for example EURUSD M1. Try to get as many ‘history’ as you can. by release the auto scroll button icon, max zoom out your M1 chart and press ‘Home’ key at your keyboard continuously until your M1 chart don’t move left anymore..
7. Next, double click my Renko Builder Indicator to load ‘her’ to your M1 EURUSD candlestick chart (we called this chart ‘base chart’). this will open the indicator setting window, leave the setting as default first, just check the pair name setting it mus exactly same with your broker instrument name for example if your EURUSD pair name is mEURUSD, or EURUSDf, then you should put the name exactly like that.
8. Close your indicator setting window, then right click on your M1 EURUSD chart and select refresh.
9. go to menu File / Open Offline. this will open sub window with the list of instrument names and their total history bars, search for EURUSD, M11 and double click to open it.
10. If you follow the step by step explanation correctly, now you will see your ‘first’ offline renko chart with 8 Point Brick Size and 1 point step (12.5% shifted).
Feel free to ask any question related to this renko chart builder indicator here.. if you need more explanations..

Hi Brother, my explanation about OHLC MA is if you use ‘her’ alone, if you use ‘her’ in combination with other indicators, then we should also use different rules, I believe that is the basic knowledge that we should know when we work with custom indicators/tools. In My Explanation here about SSA CycDiv Indicator, of course ‘she’ become the main indicator and the OHLC MA Indicator become ‘supporting’ indicator. so we only ‘looking’ at this OHLC MA Indicator signal when ‘she’ confluence with SSA CycDiv Indicator. As for rule of thumb when we create indicators base technical analysis, we only use 1 indicator as our main signal indicator, and the rest custom indicators is only for ‘filtering’ the main indicator.

Are you use different version of my renko builder indicator ?, if no, then since you create non standard instrument pair (USDBSKT), do you already set StrangeSymbolName to true, and set StrangeSymbolSize to 7 ?

Ok Brother, error Line 460,125 is division between Starting Point value and Brick Value. if this is zero divide error then the input of one or both of them must be not correct please check especially the Starting Point, put value that exist in your M1 base chart (I believe your USDBSKT is synthetic data chart ..right ?)

the problem is all other than this USDBSKT chart have 5 digits, but it only has 4 digits, can this may be a problem? while i mentioned this thing to the original creator of the basket script, in here http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=517564&page=28 . but he too did’t have a solution , any solution in creating a successful renko chart in this synthetic chart, bcoz it will open many doors in trading as i belive

Yes Brother, I see..
So, your USDBSKT use 4 digits, that’s the problem.., You should ask the programmer that create that synthetic chart change it to 5 digits, and in case of JPY pair ‘he/she’ should convert it from 2 or 3 digits become 5 digits too.., by divide with 100, the JPY pair value for example 140.500, become 1.405 and then set the digit with if (digit == 2) digit=digit+3 and if (digit==3) digit =digit+2. The other problem with this synthetic chart, we don’t have any market info data for it. So, the programmer should also create custom market info and make it as global variable data, by create total average of every marketinfo of pairs that create that USDBSKT synthetic chart.
for example set global variable SynMarketInfo
SynMarketInfoPoint = (MarketInfo(EURUSD,MODE_POINT)+MarketInfor(GBPUSD,MODE_POINT)+…)/2.. ;
and published the global variable name in the property description of the EA/Indicator, so we can get the global variable to use it inside Renko Chart Builder Indicator as Point divider, and also create similar way global variable to the Digit too…
This will help other programmer to create tools that support that kind of synthetic chart..
For my renko charting system, You may try this renko builder indicator version that hopefully could solve the zero divide problem.. of USDBSKT. I add manual digit and manual point input setting so you could adjust the values by yourself. Be careful when use the shift option with 4 digit chart like this USDBSKT, it couldn’t less than 1 point step..

now the latest indicator creates renko chart at usdbskt, but a major problem is coming, the offline chart creates a brick down for each and every tick .

Yes Brother, I think still the problem is from the USDBSKT data, when renko builder start to create current brick , ‘she’ need to look at the current bid that we called from Marketinfo (“USDBSKT”,MODE_BID), to start ‘her’ calculation of brick direction and no wonder when there is no one, the brick keep coming in only one direction in every loop tick, and of course that synthetic chart don’t have this MODE_BID not like standard pair chart.
So again we need the programmer of that synthetic chart builder to create global variable for custom MODE_BID that could called from inside renko builder indicator..
if you have the mq4 file for that synthetic builder tool, maybe I could help to make synchronization with my renko builder indicator.

I Already check your basket script that originally came from Standard MT4 Period Converter Script. Until now, I still not found what wrong with this script code. This one generate basket offline chart but not update incoming tick unless manually refreshed.
I compare it with original MT4 Period Converter Script. When I create custom Time Frame Chart (3 minutes candlestick chart )with Period Converter Script it work normally and update incoming tick, and when I put my Renko Chart Builder Indicator to this offline M3 candlestick chart, It also work flawlessly.
M3 – custom offline 3 minutes candlestick chart created with MT4 Period Converter Script
M11 8point Brick Georenko offline chart – created from M3 candlesick chart source.
So, my temporary conclusion, there is something wrong with the Create Basket Script maybe the loop for updating the mqlrates and offline hst file for new incoming tick is not correct when applied to renko environment. I still learning the logic but atm I don’t have time…lol.

Hi Brother, You can use my Renko Builder Indicator from post 1 in this thread and set the shift setting to 100%, you will get standard renko chart.. and since my MT4 platform still build 765, please let me know if this Renko Builder Indicator work or not in your newest platform..

Hi Again Kiads. Something I have noticed on your indicator. It is set for Show wicks false but it is showing wicks nonetheless. Please see screenshot attached. I would like to have the indicator without wicks as well as show wicks adjustment.(True and False working). I apologize for attaching a word document as I have no idea how to attach a picture as is done on this thread.

Hi Brother , sorry for late reply. In My Renko Builder Indicator (b700+ version) wick is not working correctly, so the default is false, and yes there still wick but only for current candle.. please forgive me about that, I still don’t have time to update this indicator due to so many other jobs..lol.
As I notice from your screenshot, do you really use TF Daily as your source/base chart of your renko chart ?

It took me a bit of time this weekend to finally hunt you down here! I am adding some forex trading to my successful study of options and have really enjoyed your education and approach to renko charts. Thank you for that. I followed your insturctions to Heine Andersen (above) and they worked perfectly! However, I cannot find a version of the SSA CycDev indicator that works with version 765. Is there any chance you can post that to this forum? If you have already done that, I could not find it! thank you again in advance!
